Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. In addition to his role in the drama show telecast in the world under the name The Killing, he subsequently played in two other internationally popular Danish dramas: Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC Drama Sherlock. He played the role of Russia's president on the American television series House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 in recognition of his role in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's story that he learned English from his older brother by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
